the Arabian Sea of the Indian Ocean. Maldives is an archipelago of 1192 coral islands. Maldives name is derived from the Sanskrit word Mala and Dvipa which means Garland of Islands. 



In terms of area, Maldives is the smallest country in asia, which is spread over 90000 kilometers in the sea, but its land area is only 298 square kilometer and by population, Maldives is the second smallest country in Asia after Brunei Darussalam with a population of about 550000. The capital of Maldives is Male, which is the most densely populated city here. The people of Maldives are called Maldivians and in local language they are called Dhivehin. 

The main occupation of the people of Maldives is fishing and tourism. The national animal of Maldives is the yellowfin tuna fish and Maldives national game is football



The language of Maldives is Dhivehi which is Indo Aryan language which is produced from Sanskrit. English and Hindi language is also known by most people in Maldives. Most people's religion is Islam in Maldives and 98% of its population is Sunni Muslim

The currency of Maldives is Maldivian Rufiyaa. Every tourist visiting Maldives, irrespective of the country is visa-free. the duration of which can be from 30 days to 90 days. Alcohol is not allowed in Maldives. 

The weather in Maldives remains the same for 12 months and the temperature there is 25°C to 29°C But still the best time to visit Maldives is from November to April followed by the rainy season from May to October, So anytime you might have to face the rain. Maldives has a time zone GMT+5 which is the same as Pakistan's time.
